How much capital is enough for you?
I find the subject of having large amounts of capital very interesting. Some people choose to slow down and live off the capital. Others choose to put it back into the markets and at risk.
If you had $100 million dollars for instance, you may feel inferior to those who have $500 million or the billionaires which are like royalty to your measly $100 million.
How much capital is enough for you? If you have $100 million, do you risk it to try to get a billion? I guess it would vary greatly case by case, but I think it is a decision many of the wealthy make. Do they want to stay the same or increase wealth classes? Keeping up with the Joneses goes up to nearly every tier of wealth. Hopefully your girl doesn't have a taste for expensive clothes and diamonds....
$5M is enough for any reasonable tastes. Nice art (from other thread) - what are you doing now post-CF, post-art?
Thanks re:the art. I probably plan to spend time with family for a few more years and not make much, but doing a few things on the side now. Then in a few years from 40-60 probably will be the most capital building as I can focus my full time on it. At 60 I hope to have more passive income and possibly pursue an MD in psychiatry then. I want to do the Columbia Post Bac program at 60 is the plan. Then MD at 66. At 70, after 4 years of residency, I'd either specialize or go straight into private practice. So a private practice at 72 or so but only devoting 10-15 specialized hours of treatment for select patients. Then I can devote my other time in my 70s to investment management. I think I could be a practicing MD from age 70-90+. I'm going to be in epic shape and why not turn on the waterfall in the office and get paid $300/hr to have chill chats with people to make them better. I don't think imma die till 117 cause I'm so healthy and my last generation ancestors were at like 95, 97 and my uncle was playing tennis in his 90s, so I have long term plans.
