It's a little more complicated.

Is it fair to get a leg up this way when you're competing against kids who may have had an unfair advantage all their life i.e. rich parents, tutors, connections, etc.?

 

Much easier to say you're bi than gay, because you're eventually gonna get married and people would probably raise an eyebrow if a gay man marries a woman. I'd suggest wearing the occasional bow tie or fedora at company outings, should do the trick.
