Are you entering one of the big consulting companies? Are you part of an LDP? If you are joining a structured program, don't even bother trying to negotiate... in fact many structured programs will say that if you try negotiate they may rescind your offer. (Saw this with several classmates).
If you are looking at a few various sales roles with small firms, you may have a very good shot at negotiating offers.
If it's a structured recruitment program for one of the big consulting firms, the offer is the offer.
You may have some luck negotiating a relocation bonus if it were justified but that would be about it.
I'd also counsel against choosing a firm based solely on the amount you'll make in your first year. It'll be peanuts in the scheme of things and a solid office with people you get along with will be a far larger determinant of future success (and happiness) in consulting.
I have an offer with IBM CbD and while I know it isn't the best in terms of consulting, it is between that and an equity financing startup. Right now I am trying to figure out the best route and I know my salary is on the upper tier for IBM, but it could be a few thousand higher. If it really could have a negative effect on my offer, I definitely will rethink this.
I'm assuming you are getting ~70k which is a pretty good starting figure anywhere. Remember that dollars are not the only thing that you can negotiate. Things like vacation time (although hard to justify at entry level) and additional training opportunities, can be discussed as well.
