How to spend millions in a year?

How is this possible? Quickest way I can imagine is the costs associate with using a personal jet a lot or a mega-yacht a lot. Also large donations. Other than that, it is not easy to picture "spending" millions. If you buy an awesome house, it goes on your balance sheet. If you buy one of the aforementioned boats or planes, same thing.

I'd prefer not to hear any retarded stories about MC Hammer or lottery winners. How do heavyweight hedge fundies and successful entrepreneurs tastefully blow through obscene quantities of money? Honestly the best answers woudl be in that Richistan book, but I haven't read it.

Just kidding......sort of

Buy a sports team

You'd be spending a LOT more than a million to buy a major sports team.

I'm not sure why, but I think he's asking how you blow $1M in a year with nothing to show for it so I'm assuming he's excluding purchasing anything of value.

Again, not in the original premise, but if you want to know how to blow your fortune and have nothing to show for it, watch "Brewster's Millions". Run for public office and lose. There is almost no limit to how much money you can burn through.

Personally, I'd spend it on a trip to the moon.

Celebrities blow a lot of money by pampering their entourages and having extravagant parties. Multimillion dollar weddings/birthday parties etc. are great ways to burn cash. Renting private islands and yachts is another good way.

Beat me to it.

I've read Richistan, and the author makes it pretty clear how quickly things add up. Taxes, upkeep and compensation (you'd be surprised how typical it is for rich people to have an army of people working for them, some of them full-time) can run people several mill a year if they're aiming for a certain lifestyle. Yachts and jets are probably the biggest expenses, even more so than real estate in many cases.

If you were just trying to get rid of it you would stay at luxury hotels or rent obscene houses and throw absurd parties. Like someone mentioned, many famous people blow through their money by chartering private jets and dragging a large entourage around. Donations to charities would help reduce your stockpile.

You could also invest it in this new solar panel company I heard the government is going to back!! LOL.

In all seriousness, if you are trying to waste money just mimic the government. You pay more for everything that it is actually worth and then frequently dispose of it.

If I was trying to burn through a bunch of cash I would probably "hire" all of my close friends and relatives, charter the largest nuclear powered vessel I could and circumnavigate the world, stopping whenever and wherever I wanted. Of course this vessel would be followed by a flotilla of ships carrying with us all of the toys (cars, 4x4s, helicopters, etc) we need to have fun at places like the North Pole, Antarctica and anywhere else we decided to go.

Regards

First think about how you can earn those millions And then EARN it And only then think about how to spend the money

Hey cool, there's a good trader who went to Nottingham he can call. Apparently, he's been doing this kind of work for a few years. He works atUBS, and they turned a profit this quarter, so it's a really promising sign.
