How tough is it to break into Physical/Commodity Trading?
Been applying to graduate programs at trading houses and the supermajors but unfortunately I haven't had any luck (I'm from Asia, if that's relevant information). Therefore I am exploring my options to eventually break into trading commodities.
From the advice that I have gathered and what I have read on this site, it seems that the best option would be to get a role in either trading operations or shipping management in a trading firm and to work my way up from there - how effective or accurate is this, and if so, are there any particular things that I should really be looking out for in potential roles?
Also, taking up a masters programme increase my employment opportunities in this area? From what I've seen and heard, that does not really help in getting a role in trading commodities, how true is this?
