IB Analyst Horror Stories / F**k Ups

I'm sure there is a post of this somewhere, but wanted to create a new thread and see what stories the monkeys out here have. As the title suggest, looking to hear/read about stories from IB/Consulting/PE guys on this forum about first-hand horror stories / fuck ups. My only request:

  1. Let this be a story you were directly involved in/witnessed. None of these "one time in band camp..." stories.

I'll start:

On one of my sell-side processes, I was the only member from our deal team that attended the Management Presentation between our client and the founding member of a Family Office, who had been a fan of our client his entire life. The whole MP took over 6 hours and was a total love-fest until the last 25 minutes.

Being the only banker on site, I begin to wrap up the meeting and summarize next steps. I dont want to get into the minutia but apparently he was unaware of something regarding the bid process/offers.

It was that exact moment where the Family Office guy's happy mood goes into full Harambe-mode. He proceeds to flip a shit. He stands up, and in front of our client, calls me a fucking asshole, incompetent dick, etc. and continues to berate me for a good 5 minutes. At first I was in shock. Shock turned to anger. And I'm thinking, if I was at home, these dude would get dropped in an instant. Stringer Bell type shit.

He then turns to my client and said something in the line of "I like you guys and this Company a lot. I think we can do amazing things together. Its just unfortunate we have this incompetent banker fucking up the whole deal. Good bye." And leaves.

I look at my client, like... I dont know WTF just happened. They were surprisingly very relaxed about it and recognized the guy just went Super Sayan Ape Shit on me. We proceed to pack up to leave. As we're walking out. The Family Office guy stomps down the hall and orders us all back in the room. He then proceeds to tell me to sit down and hands me our Bid Process Letter and tells me to read aloud.

This asshole proceeds to make me read the entire process letter out loud while him and my client stand and watch me. Afterwards, he responds with something along the lines of "Yeah, I know I'm right" and then leaves for good.

Even with that, I was that upset. What pissed me off was the fact that in the beginning of the day, he pressured me into joining him in his car from the hotel to avoid unnecessary driving. So basically he just left me without a ride. That was a super dick move.
