IB Best Offices - UPDATED 2018
Hi All,
More of a fun one: Hoping to get a list going as to the best/nicest office buildings for investment banks (ideally in NYC) and why you think they're desirable (amenities, layout, artwork(?), etc.).
I'm aware that a similar question has been asked before but figured we'd get an updated list going as banks change locations, make renovations, etc. Genuinely interested in having good physical office space, as it adds to the overall work environment.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!
Sorry to hijack but would be interested for London too!
Toronto as well! I've seen TD's floors, which are quite nice. CIBC also has a lot of ornate furnishings, etc - very classy
Centerview and HL have nice offices but they are very classic old style Mayfair offices. PJT has decent office, not shit and not special. The big ones in Canary Wharf (Citi, MS, JP) have your standard big buildings and inside I think JP has the nicer one.
least desirable: Morgan Stanley, because you have to deal with fucking tourists every day when you go into the office.
The top floor of 1580 Broadway is an executive dining room with some great views but yeah walking to the office I was maneuvering through crowds of Europeans... the women were well dressed and attractive tbh
yeah, there are attractive european women there. but for every 1kg of european woman there was 40lbs of midwestern tourists.
to quote the great ariana grande, "thank you, next"

Not IB, but AllianceBernstein HQ in midtown has the best office out of any I have visited, incredible park views from the upper floors with no other buildings in the way. They signed the long lease pre-crisis.
Can't beat those park views, agreed. KKR had some wicked views as well at 9 West, but they're moving to Hudson Yards now
BAML has a sick building, CS too (interior is nice). Barclays isn't great, neither is MS or DB. Centerview and Evercore have decent spots in midtown but they only have a few floors. Laz has nice offices in Rockefeller, but I personally don't like Rock. JPM has OK offices in midtown. Citi has a good location and will probably have the nicest interior once they finish renovating. Goldman is nice, but shit FiDi area location
Thanks for this compilation! BAML's is indeed very nice; have heard good things about Citi as well. I hear RBC has nice digs downtown as well, in the newly renovated Brookfield Place. DB is also moving into the Time Warner offices in Columbus Circle in 2021, I believe
Agreed with this one. CS is nice but the low dim lighting inside is just not for me. The MS and BMO offices are a nightmare with all the tourists. GS is nice but FiDi is a pain because buildings are all mega old and it can get pretty touristy in the summer. Everyone based moved their offices further uptown so its less desirable...
Top floor of JPM's Midtown office. Unprecedented.
Noice. I hear they have a bar on one of the top floors of 270 Park! That being said, how's the 383 Madison building - if I'm not mistaken, that's where IB sits, right?
BAML also has a bar on one of the top floors in their NY office with awesome views.
Yea JP IB is 383 Madison. Office is nice, nothing special
Bump
Are you trying to decide on which offer to take based on the nicest office?
LOL no sir - and I encourage anyone to not make an actual employment decision based on physical aspects of an office, other than location. As mentioned in my opening post, just a fun discussion - not employment related
I liked Guggenheim's NY building when i was interviewing. William Blair's Chicago HQ is monstrous though.
Do you or anyone else know the deal with William Blair outside of Chicago, are they even in NYC at all?
Shit is fire. Literally.
Yeah apparently Gugg's was renovated relatively recently and has its own gym in it too - very cool
Building also literally caught on fire last week haha
I would say Credit Suisse is my favorite out of what I've seen. The exterior has some pretty cool architecture, unique location, and inside is nice and modern. Like others said Goldman is pretty good too at 200 West, but not the best location.
Toronto: BarCap - best office of any of the globals. weirdly pretty high up (North of 30th floor). In BAC TD - pretty nice, gonna be gross when renos and gym are finished Scotia - oddly high up. very nice views CS - in FCP. very nice office
Most of the other global investment banks are in BFP. very nice building
Thoughts on DE Shaws midtown office? The lobby looks exquisite.
db is moving to Columbus circle starting from 2020. it would be a huge upgrade from the 60 wall st and it get the whole central park view
RBC houston
Brand new office at 609 Main right?
Yes
Interviewed at Centerview in the Fall. Quite nice office already and they were in the middle of renovating/adding an entirely new floor. Some of the employees were saying theyre getting a coffee bar with barista and other cool stuff. Could be an office to look out for once they finish the work
Moelis has some pretty nice offices, at least for the guests. Hallways were wide, lots of art, and almost everything marble
Is this for the NYC office? Heard good things about their LA office; but nice to see they're keeping up the trend in their NYC office as well
CS NYC has a dank office. Place is legitimately gorgeous.
PJT's office is nice. A little too much white marble for me tho
