IB Internship but no Deal Experience
This past summer, I had an IB internship, but I had no experience on actual deals. I did other IB related work like research, etc, but how should I include this on my resume? Would this be a big issue?

What were you researching and doing then? Surely it was tangentially related to a deal??
it was industry research
... for a deal??
Kinda sketchy if you ask me, how can you do what I assume is a 10-week summer internship and not have tangible experience other than just industry research, did you not model even if it wasn't a live deal? Do you plan to recruit for SA, if so, you will be expected to talk about it. The worst thing you can do for yourself is lie on your resume, bankers will snuff it out and promptly proceed to ding you.
thats why im worried. im definitely not going to lie about it, but i just didnt get too much direct deal experience due to covid and weak deal flow, etc. i had a bit of modeling experience
at a bb, our interns last yr weren't allowed to be put on live deals due to them wfh and the confidentiality issues surrounding that
What kind of bank?
Boutique
I've been spreading comps for the past 5 weeks at my boutique

Tbh it’s not like anyone is expecting you to be hitting the ground running on day 1 after a 10-week internship..
Seconding this. Not sure why the person above is expecting you to have done modeling experience on the job as they're not even going to trust your models in the first place.
Ok. I guess I just don’t want to be called out for not doing “real work” or something during an interview
Did you do other excel-related tasks (comps, charts) enough to fill out your resume?
Write bullet points about what you actually did and then have someone mock interview you specifically about the experience. No one interns to have live deal experience but if you can talk for a few minutes about your tasks that's plenty. Especially in a virtual environment the expectations are pretty low
