IB MAY/JUNE 2021 HOURS MEGATHREAD
Hi all, pls put your anon on. I want to get as many responses as possible, so could you please put down
1) Your year (e.g., A1)
2) EB/BB/MM + city
3) What time you log on/off, how many hours you worked on average in May and so far in June
4) worst week hours-wise (breakdown is helpful)
5) best week hours-wise (breakdown pls too)
6) any other notable notes (e.g., I’m at UBS industrials so pls adjust lol)
Thank you and let’s make this thread great
No
Someone's collecting data for the GS-13 survey part 2 except make it industry-wide.
Cool, I’ll go fuck myself then
1) A2
2) UBS nyc
3) 2am
4) 110 hrs
5) 70
6) hate my life
Now THIS is what we wanna see! Thanks for the contribution, and sorry you’re getting fucked
thanks, I just got dinged on a buyside opp (hedge fund), and knowing im still stuck in banking and working these hours has brought me to utter rock bottom.
You gotta quit dude. this fucks up your mental health day by day. it's not worth it.
Might not come as a surprise with the recent slowdown compared to earlier
Analyst 1 started last year winter
Citi / BAML type BB in M&A Group
Log off around 10:30 average and average 75ish hours in May
Worst has been 85 with weekends
Lowest has been 65
That’s... reasonable. Hope it stays light for you. Are you mostly pitching right now?
Currently only on one live deal that's nowhere near closing, how have hours been like for you? and what type of bank are you at?
1. A1 going on A2
2. UBS
3. 1-2am minimum during week
4. Don't track actual hours
5. 1st month of training
6. Constant pitches only to get a joint role on financings / client to go with an EB / other BB. TMT group completely gone. Bad leadership.
Are you looking to do PE or take the promote a to a
0% chance I will stay for associate promotion. I don't think any of my peers will either. PE is more or less the same job at a large fund but more interested in being at a place that aligns with my investment philosophy and people I would be excited to work with (instead of people I don't really respect or am interested in learning from). I made the mistake of picking a job I wanted to be at vs. picking the right people. If only I could go back to college days and been a little smarter with my opportunities....
