I'm not as attractive when clean-shaven.

I look too young. I'm sure most of us look more attractive with just a little stubble or scruff. So my question is... how much is TOO much and how much is acceptable? (in a professional environment)

You should be clean-cut for an interview, you being a 2/10 instead of a 1/10 isn't going to mean jack to a recruiter. Ugly.

Don't see how a beard would get in the way of your bongo playing, unless I am missing something?

LOOOOOOOOL

OP, just look around at your work/group and see if there is at least one relatively seniorish person that has any facial hair and then you basically have a green light. What's more important than having zero facial hair is being well groomed...get a beard trimmer and make sure it doesn't get too thick. As long as you put effort towards looking decent no one should say anything unless you work at one of those elitist stick-in-the-ass places that view a single strand of hair on your face like a malicious affront to the whole organization. What people don't like at most places (except for like HF or tech, which are more purely meritocratic) is not facial hairs themselves but an obvious lack of effort towards your appearance.

I work in equities at a BB in London... have sported a 2-5 day stubble since day one and nobody has ever raised an eyebrow.

Given that you don't even have a dresscode (I stll have to wear a suit), I'm quite sure you can do whatever you want with your facial hair.

Give it a go... if your boss doesn't approve he will let you know (directly or indirectly). It will help if you make sure you look even more presentable than usual in all other aspects (hair, shoes, clothes...).

If anyone asks just tell them you might be activated and sent to Afghanistan at any time. No one will question your beard any more.

Only special forces and people who have a doc-approved sensitive skin form can be unshaven lol I wonder if there was like a really gnarly woman in the military who had a mustache and didn't shave it, she'd get told off...

I'm a trader and sometimes I go weeks at a time without shaving. I don't even remember the last time I've shaved myself. My fiance just takes a buzzer to my face and cleans me up when it's time.

Calm down.

I should shave every day. I do shave every 1-3 days.

I went M/W/F last summer during my SA stint, hopefully I can get away with that for FT because any more frequent than that fucks up my neck.

I didn't know people didn't shave daily during the week.

Are you guys going to hit puberty any time soon? :p
