Hi just wanted to hear about your thoughts on choosing between an implementation consulting position (ex. E&Y, PwC) and a Fortune 500 strategy position (ex. Target, P&G). Goal is to work for a few years, go to a top business school, and transition into strategy consulting. Thanks.

I think corp strategy would both be more interesting and be more relevant to strategy (do you mean MBB?) later on. although some of it is focused on M&A

Is anyone aware of any Los Angeles or San Francisco F500 firms with a strategy position/program for candidates coming straight out of undergrad? Like OP, my ideal path is work a couple years, b-school, consulting.

Do recognize that in a F500 strategy role, your work is much more likely to be implemented and used rather than just set aside. I interned in the strategy group of a F500 this past summer, and beyond the critical thinking and analytical capacities required to do the job, I was able to see the fruits of my labor literally obtain "buy-in" from senior executives and essentially get the go-ahead for full implementation. I don't think any summer consulting gig would have offered me that same level of bottom-line company impact.
