IB, Strategy or Tech M&A (VC ecosystem) ?
Hi everyone,
It's my first post, I hope I will find good advices here :)
I'm having a lot of questions recently regarding the job I want to do after I graduate.
I am wondering : Should I try Investment Banking (BB), Strategy Consulting (MBB) or stay in Tech M&A & fundraising (VC ecosystem) ?
To sum up my resume, I'm a graduate engineer (IT from non target), currently in EDHEC and I might go to LSE in September for the Diploma in Accounting and Finance (double degree programme with EDHEC). Beside my studies, I work as a freelance consultant to help startups raise funds from the french public investment bank and I am currently doing an internship in Tech M&A.
I love what I do (both internship and freelance job) because i'm passionate about innovation and tech, but I see my acceptance at the LSE as an opportunity to try IB or Strategy Consulting. I'm a bit afraid that I won't like IB/MBB as much as VC/Tech because the "innovation" side is less prominant (I suppose).
I don't want to have any regrets by not having tried IB/MBB because the learning curve is really important there. Also, switching my career path can send bad messages to recruiters "This guy doesn't know what he's doing".
Did you have those questions in mind when you were a student ?
What do you think now after having made your career choices ?
How do you see IB, Strategy Consulting and Tech ecosystem in a few years ? How is it going to evolve ?
Thank you for reading,
Have a good evening :)
