Investment Idea Generation

I was wondering if there are any books or resources on real world investment ideas (longs, shorts, alternatives, passive, etc...) that were implemented whether successful or not, and analyzing each of them from thesis to execution. It would be a great way to learn how to think about generating ideas and provide some inspiration for those that have investor's block, which I presume is most people.
