Advice on Offers?

Hi all - in need of some advice in terms of career direction.

I'm pretty junior career-wise; went to a semi-target UK university and studied Finance, had a placement year in Research at a stock brokerage, and have spent the last 1.5 years working in Quant Analysis (python, stats, models) for a tech company - not financial markets; only took this because I graduated during Covid and no banks were hiring.

I've been interviewing the last few months for Quant roles and Investment Analysis roles.

I've been getting some interviews with top firms for Quant roles (i.e. risk, model validation etc); I always do well and get to the last two candidates, but they always take the other guy. On the Investment Analysis side of things, the types of firms have been smaller (500-1000 people), and as such offers are slightly easier to come by.

I've got an offer from a smaller pensions services firm (500 people). They have their own funds, for which they act as the ACD (Authorised Corporate Director). The role would be in Investment Oversight; meaning that I'd be undertaking multi-asset analysis on the performance of their own funds. The team I am sat in set the investment strategy, which the fund manager (another company) would then execute. The analysis would involve performance and risk analysis on their funds; i.e. for example how falling bond yields affect the average duration of their funds, or analysing exposures to certain countries, and how this may affect the fund if the country were to go to war.

I would get to continue using Python, work with financial market data, and devise ideas for strategies, while getting exposure to risk metrics etc.

Career-wise, I don't know what I'd want to do in the future, so I want to know what the common paths are after Investment Management Oversight? Thanks!
