Is freshmen PWM internship relevant?
So this summer I'm going to be working at a small wealth management firm, part-time, and with a small pay. I am currently a freshmen at an ok school (michigan/berkeley/virginia). I want to eventually end up doing investment banking after I graduate so I was wondering if this was a decent gig.
I also might be able to do some coding work at a startup near my college, but I don't think that'll really help me much.
I heard that I won't be able to learn much part-time but this is the best I got so far. Also, after talking with the guy at the firm, it seems like I'd be able to work on some cool projects dealing with a lot of reading of financial documents and a little bit of excel modeling. Thoughts?

You are demonstrating an interest in finance and the ability to work in a professional environment.
Take it, you're a freshman and you're getting your foot in the door. Even if it isn't directly tied to your end goal, it'll have some transferrable skills.
I.E office setting/professional environment/team work. Make sure to network and study up on stuff on your off time (Since it is Part time)
That's better than what 90% of freshman land. Shit, I worked at a golf course my freshman year.
Flurite I think PMW is a great Freshman-level internship and something I wish I would've taken advantage of. I'm assuming this is a reputable firm?
Either ways by completing this internship you're going to be demonstrating (from what I know) the following skills:
1.) Client Relations/Service - Cold calling tends to be a big part of what interns do (AFAIK). It'll give you an opportunity to improve your communication skills by dealing with current or potential clients. It will also give you an opportunity to add bullet points to your resume such as "Converted 40% of leads into active clients within a 3 month period."
2.) Time Management/Organization - Making presentations or helping with the initial drafts will help you become proficient at condensing important information down into digestible chunks and give you a flavor of what you will probably be doing at an IB or even Corporate Development function with respect to pitch books or proposals.
3.) Professionalism - Given that you're a Freshman I'm assuming you haven't worked in an office-type environment. If so, this internship will give you an idea of how to conduct yourself and prepare you for when you do take on an internship at an IB.
