Given the fact that your school is non-target, your GPA is not competitive, there are chances your resume wont get through screening.
Regarding work experience, yours is fine. Big 4 experience is ok. But you need to spin a persuasive story to create a logical link from your prior internships to IB. Must be a compelling one since many rising juniors these days have a PE/IB summer analyst under their belts, if your story ain't good enough, you can't compete.
If you could converse in Spanish, that would be a plus.
And you need to network relentlessly otherwise you will not getting anywhere if you solely rely on online application.
I agree, thank you
Yeah I agree that you need to focus on finding some way to get in outside of just applying online/via your school. Will have to hustle and network to get a first round/convince bankers to look past the GPA/school. Do you have any current connections in the industry?
Non-target + 3.3 GPA = Instant ding
Unfortunately my gpa is low. However i thought having some big4 exp would make up for it.
You're graduating May 2019 but applying for SA 2019? Is your grad date wrong or are you looking to intern after you graduate?
Either way, the big4 experience is good, but does not totally make up for the GPA. Agree with the other poster on networking and all other points. I also applaud you for a great interests line as I think the importance of that is undervalued
New York is quite far from NM, you need to be able to answer questions about how you ended up in NM and why you want to move to NY. Seems like you played tennis - put that on your resume and play it up, especially if it was NCAA or other high level.
I do graduate in 2019, but want to shift my big4 experience into a possible IB internship > full time. Im not sure if this is possible but all applications said it would be okay to graduate in 2019 (May)
i had a 3.4 or 3.5 (don't recall exactly) GPA at a non-target state school....and i didn't really try at all...so really...anything below that just means either you're stupid..or you REALLY didn't try.
Luckily, a BB was taking summer interns from my school for a tax break negotiation...however, without that...i never would have gotten that job which spring-boarded me into my career.
You'll need a person on the inside to vouch for you...to give you a shot (so, yes...networking). That's the only way in the front door for you. The alternative is the side door....IT (tech) programming jobs are easier to get if you have the skills...and you can move internally from tech. If you are smart...you can learn how to program. So, the question is...are you smart?
I understand your perspective and appreciate the input. I find a 3.6 gpa while running the investment club and a small business which is 40 hours a week of work quite impressive. It shows employers a tenacious and hard working candidate IMO.
perhaps...but you will never get the chance to tell that story when you apply thru a website, or a resume drop. You'll need to tell that story in person...aka...networking.
