IU
Hey, everyone I decided to take IU direct admit to Kelly instead of UNC or NYU, is this a bad decision. I really like the IB workshop.

Career Resources
Probably from a business perspective not the best choice but you will have a lot of fun there and that's what counts.
You'll only know in retrospect.
And it depends on where you end up wanting to live. If you want to live in NYC or the SE, then yes it's a bad decision. If you're open to the midwest it's a bit more debatable.
All of these schools are "regional leaders". Placement is great in their areas, not so much elsewhere unless you're a great candidate (or get into that workshop).
I want to start out just getting placed into a IB POSITION with good salary, but want to end up working in PE in Florida. I know that it has the best placement in Chicago, but can it really hurt me if I end up getting into the IB Workshop/Seminar, cold emailing, applying directly to SA positions on websites, I mean it is a target school for Chicago and a semi target for NY
Is it really that bad it seems good to me
ah
horrible choice, but NYU and UNC are head and shoulders above IU
Not necessarily.
I'm at a BB in New York...while UNC and NYU are ranked higher, you certainly can get here from IU--we've had at least on analyst from IU each year since I've been here.
I'm obviously not setting aspirations for BB. I'm looking at boutiques and regionally known ones such as SunTrust or Raymond James. Do you that I can get there by landing couple SA Internships and maintaining a good GPA at IU? One person at a BB isn't that good for IU, but it is still considered a semi target for NY right Dat Guy?
So I'm a corporate guy -- take this for what it's worth.
SunTrust is headquartered in Atlanta...Southeast...UNC has a rather sizable alumni network in ATL. I'm sure the others do, too, but think about where the corporate headquarters are and whether or not your alumni network would work there.
Raymond James being in Tampa...UNC will have the proximity to your other two choices, but I'd bet that's less important in TPA.
Granted -- I'm biased (went to KFBS for my MBA), but if you want to land in the south, I'd have gone to Chapel Hill. Anywhere north of DC and I'd have picked NYU -- if alumni network was the sole Decision Point (and it shouldn't be....find the right school where you'll be most successful and you'll be fine).
Do you guys will that my chances in the above post wouldn't be affected by IU or would it hurt?
As Dat Guy said, you should be fine from IU. My bank also had 1 person from IU, although we had a lot more from NYU Stern. IU typically places decently well at banks so I wouldn't be too worried about landing an internship if you have a good GPA. I would consider IU as a semi-target for NYC.
Alright thanks guys I think I'll go to whatever school offers me the most money. I'm starting to inch away from IU Because I just got off the phone from the director of the Workshop for IB. Turns out I need a 3.8 gpa and they only select 70-80 out of a pool of 140-160 each year. I'm not so sure how easy or difficult a 3.8 is at Indiana. What do you guys say? Easy or hard at Kelly?
