Job title of credit analyst in an asset management firm
i have an internship in an asset management firm that has a fund that invest in bonds (high yield).
the manager told me i will be a "credit analyst" : working on financial modelling and analyzing issuers of bonds, giving opinions on to buy/sell/hold, updating news, doing bonds valuation etc.... But to me credit analyst has a negative connotation as it refers to an analyst in a bank where you have less workload and few tasks to do compared to this.
Do you think it's fair to call this position "credit analyst" ? isn't it credit research or fixed income analyst (i don't know) something that makes the distinction between the two jobs (in a bank and in an asset management firm)
They're all synonyms, and it's completely fair. Credit=debt=fixed income (very broadly). Credit analyst is just the natural extension of credit research
thank you for your answer, i will go for credit research analyst to make the distinction then.
i'd actually reference high yield credit analyst

Where do these positions exist? I am looking to work in FI or credit research? Any particular firms that are good with this?
