Jumping products - HF trading

Has anyone had luck transitioning products within the HF trading realm? Currently trading at largish ($2B+) west coast credit fund and frankly have no interest interest in the product - maybe it's just the summer volumes getting to me.  Im sure this sounds ungrateful -  I recognize that I am extremely lucky to be in this position to begin with. For context, came from macro S&T position that I genuinely enjoyed, but lacked growth opps. That said, I use my free time staying up to date on global macro themes and remain well versed in the space although it is not relevant in my current role. My concern here is that I have become pigeonholed in a sector that I just don't find interesting.  Has anyone left their firm to change products traded? And if so, was the grass greener?
