I would say get a back-office job doing P&L, booking flights, and managing cash for a small PE firm. They won't stop you from taking on more responsibilities and proving your worth, provided you are ambitious enough to do so.

in the end of the day, banking wont be the end all be all because you do 2 years of banking and 2 years of pe then you get kicked the fuck out. A lot people go somewhere else with a more fulfilling career

You should approach this as "what are the things I like" and find jobs that match those as close as you can. If you are going to work for 45 years you might as well like it.

[building on Durbus's list] Other careers: * CIA * Pro surfer * pro biker * pro body piercer * pro skydiver * artist * Massage therapist * Veterinarian * academia * Bartender, bar owner/manager, liquer salesman, liquer store owner [they make more than you think] * Fishing tour guide [100% job satisfaction] * Office slave w/o exit ops. This is the majority of corporate workers. Use as last resort. * sales [you can make more than an entry level banker if you're good. A LOT more] * Political staffer [shit pay, but very cool work] * Musician - most are close to broke, some make far more than financial professionals ever will and basically get paid to party.
....also shoot for those opportunities without doing the IBD analyst program. It's not common but you may be able to weasel your way in. Not everyone in corpDev was a banker, dude.

I was kinda trying to keep it in the finance/business line of work. Asset management sounds appealing. ive done some research and it seems like a good career. I know the pay can be nice. Is it as nearly as hard to get into the top asset management firms or within asset management divisions at IBank ?
From what I've seen, most people get into asset management after a stint in IBD/ER and usually have an MBA or a CFA with them. Its not impossible to do it out of undergrad, but I think its a little harder, and you'll have to learn more faster.
