LaSalle Investment Management Research & Strategy Analyst Prestige and Exit Ops
I graduated from a top ten public university this past January with a Bachelor's in Econ and long-only asset management internship experience. Resume has strong grades and test scores etc. During my internship, I did some work on REITs and a few other companies with significant exposures to regional real estate markets, so I have some knowledge of the asset class.
Currently, I'm interviewing with LaSalle Investment Management for an Analyst opportunity with their Research & Strategy team. I like the people and the work as it's been described to me sounds intellectually interesting- lots of statistical modelling and rigorous economic thinking. That said, I'm wondering what sort of doors a two to three year stint as a researcher at LaSalle might open down the road. I'm not sure that I want to be specialized in real estate long term (in particular, I think I might want to join a macro fund). I am also pretty confident that I prefer research and modeling to "doing deals"- I'm moderately introverted and have heard that the acquisitions/development side of real estate is a bit of a good ol' boys club. So given all that, what sort of opportunities might this role lead to, and would you recommend the firm to someone in my position? (Other opportunities for which I'm interviewing right now include a highly profitable Chicago-based market maker and a sell-side research gig in northern New England).
I'd be very grateful for your thoughts and insights. Thanks!
