Liberty Mutual
Was wondering if any of you have gone through the interview process or know anything about the internship? It is an accounting/finance roll but I do not know many details yet. Got offered a second round interview today. Was curious about the type of work and compensation. Thanks guys!
What city are you in? I know some people who went through the interview process for that a month or so ago, and offers were already made. It seems like a really good internship experience from what I have heard about it though. I believe they take sophomores as well, so it would be an excellent position for your sophomore summer.
I have heard its a pretty good internship from some people I know that did it last summer. In Chicago, all offers have been made though, and I would assume other cities are running on a similar schedule.
Liberty Mutual Research Internship HELP? (Originally Posted: 04/12/2011)
How would an internship doing investment research for Liberty Mutual look as a sophomore summer internship?
Would it help me break into an equity research internship at Wellington/MFS/Fidelity for junior year?
Here is the description:
Program Description Our Undergraduate Internship Program will provide a challenging opportunity to work within one of the following functional investments groups: · Investment Grade Bonds · High Yield & Syndicated Loans · International Bonds · Private Equity · Commercial Real Estate · Energy: Oil & Natural Gas · Metals & Mining · Public Equity
Assignments The Intern will get hands-on experience and learn about the day to day responsibilities of Investment Associates.
As an intern with Liberty Mutual Investments, you will develop knowledge about the business through exposure to an asset class within the Investment Department. You will focus on developing the skills necessary for professional success by completing the assigned day-to-day work and projects normally performed by an entry-level, professional employee. Liberty Mutual's internship program is intended to provide students from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to practice business skills learned in school while developing experience. The internship assignments will focus on collection of data, maintaining internal databases, monitoring Investments, preparing routine portfolio and adhoc reports.
That looks great man, especially for a sophomore. Any buyside experience, especially in an analyst type role will be looked upon favorably on both sides of the business.
Thanks Ray,
I always though Liberty Mutual as more of an insurance company and wanted to make sure it would still be something beneficial for me.
I don't know if anybody knows anything specific about the company and if they have a decent research dept.
As a sophomore though, I think it would be fairly solid
I interned on the buyside for an insurance fund, was a great experience.
Insurance companies have lots of assets that need to be invested when they aren't being paid out to policyholders. This would be perfect given what you are looking for. I might be mistaken, but it seems like Public Equity is what you want to shoot for based on your goals.
I interned at insurance ER as well and it was a good learning experience. Way to go man.
.....especially for a sophmore!!!
That's a great internship for a sophomore.
Good luck.
Phone Interview with Liberty Mutual? (Originally Posted: 03/01/2013)
I'm a sophomore majoring in Economics and Chemistry at a state school in CA. This phone interview is for the business analyst summer internship...Could anyone give me solid tips on how to make the most out of the interview? Any online resources, websites, books, etc. I can look at? Appreciate your help.
Investment banking? I think you're confused.
WTF?
I don't think you'll get many technicals, probably just behavorial/fit. Just check out the typical WSO/M&I guides and you'll be fine.
Personally I hate the business analyst classification, it's just a bloated title (I know, same thing for IB).
Do your school have a career center? Start there.
