London EB's - information as of 2019
Any EMEA based users able to chime in on EB's in London, there seem to be a lack of London/EMEA focussed information out there. Would be interested to hear peoples views on how the likes of PJT/EVR/Centerview/PWP stack up at the moment (from a M&A perspective, noted that PJT/Moelis/HL are strong in RX and thus not comparable to other roles). (*from junior ANL/ASO perspective)
- deal flow
- sector focus
- culture / lifestyle
- comp
- size
- misc info
If you are talking about EMEA, and particularly France as your username suggests, it is criminal to omit Lazard and Rothschild from the EB discussion.
Agree, left them out as they are generally more established than the US EB's (which there is less information on from a London perspective)
CTV - strong in HC/C&R PWP - strong in Industrials, especially complex deals. Does some TMT Rotschild - strong in HC, Business services and C&R. Volume shop with mostly smaller deals. PJT - active in healthcare mostly for M&A Lazard - solid all around Evercore - no real clue, doesn’t yet seem very strong yet here in Europe.
Any insight into culture in American EB's vs BB's in London? Small teams = busier, or generally lower dealflow? Gather comp is higher regardless
Would say US BBs still dominate here.
Evercore has ranked number six on European sell sides and 14th on European buy-side advisory since Jan 2018. They've got c.45 MDs in Europe so I wouldn't really say they aren't very strong in Europe. Strongest sectors are FIG, Utilities and Energy following on from their acquisition of Lexicon back in the day
Sorry, not following any of these sectors/got no interest in these sectors so you are probably right
Current merger market ordering is: EVR Lazard PJT PWP Moelis GHL CVP
But the sizes of these places are so different that it is hard to compare deal flow and say it indicates much about analyst experience. GHL and CVP are smallest and Lazard is huge
Don't think yours are right. This is what my YTD says (Europe only)
Total Value
5 Evercore Inc. / 89870 6 Rothschild & Co / 88261 7 Lazard / 78565 8 PJT Partners Inc / 77222 24 Moelis & Company LLC / 11234 40 Perella Weinberg Partners LP/ 5821 65 Centerview Partners / 2616 80 Greenhill & Co Inc /1624
Total Volume
Number of Deals Rothschild & Co / 180 Lazard / 106 Evercore Inc. / 35 Moelis & Company LLC / 14 PJT Partners Inc / 8 Perella Weinberg Partners LP / 7 Centerview Partners / 7 Greenhill & Co Inc / 5
As poster above points out, kinda irrelevant to post league tables without comparing relative sizes
I was going since 2018. It doesn't really make sense to take YTD since bc of the nature of EB announcements the smaller the timeframe the less informative the metric is
