London HH reaching out to you - how to respond?

Hi all,

I have had a couple of HH reach out to me on linked in / email (think of PER, Walker Hamill etc.) asking for an introduction conversation regarding PE recruiting.

I am very much interested in moving to the buyside but I have only been with my current IB role for 6 months and won't be ready to move before summer 2018 probably. My experience so far has been fairly good but I have had one conversation with a HH and they already asked me about my deal experience and how much modelling I've done. I have had some modelling experience, but it's been quite limited so far and I feel like that does not give a good impression. My question is do I set up quick chats with HH already now so they have me on their radar or do I wait until I have more experience so I can already "impress" more in that initial chat? Just to make it clear it was not me who reached out to them, they contacted me and they can see in my profile that I have only been in my current role for 6 months, that's why I am wondering what the best move is here. Not sure how good it is to make them wait / respond that you are not ready yet? They have all indicated that the conversation is not about current vacancies but more to introduce their firm, learn more about my background and interests.

Thanks for your advice.
