LSE vs Imperial College for BB in Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney?
Hey guys,
I'm torn between the two unis for an undergrad degree (Maths and Econ at LSE) vs (Maths with stats for finance at Imperial). Thing is i can see the pros and cons for both courses even though they are slightly different.
My wish is to work in the financial industry and especially in a top investment bank in Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney.
Which of these unis will have more of a brand name in Asia and in australia?
i can tell you from the perspective of someone not from the UK, that I don't know what Imperial College is, but I do know what LSE is.
LSE
Imperial has a top reputation within the UK but not so much outside. Everybody in banking knows the LSE, and it has a good reputation (for smart students and for good placement, if not so much for teaching quality...). So for your situation definitely LSE.
LSE from first hand experience
LSE is more prestigious in the Asian arena. It is also much well known globally as compared to Imperial
Imperial is a top ten uni worldwide but I do agree that LSE is more heard of by the general public.
You can't go wrong with either. But you might as well go with the one more relevant to banking. And that is LSE.
What boredviewer said, can't go wrong with either. LSE, Imperial, UCL, Cambridge, and Oxford all place well in Europe/Asia.
Play it safe and try to get the LSE name on your CV.
