Mac vs. Surface

I'm a rising junior that has accepted a 2021 SA offer. My Mac that i've been using for 2 years is breaking and I have to buy a new one now - i'm stuck between a macbook pro and a microsoft surface. I've always liked apple and would prefer the mac but obviously know the downfalls of excel on mac or running parallels/bootcamp. If i'm going to get a work laptop (hopefully) is it fine to just get a mac moving forward for school and personal use?

Yes - 100%.

I always have a lenovo for work and a macbook pro for personal use.

Best of both worlds.

I have a 13.5" SL3 I use for work and grad school - it fits in my work bag nicely and the screen ratio is ideal for excel use. My preference is to carry around one laptop, and as I'm required to use the firm's VPN when working remotely, this limits me to PC. Others in my team have the XPS13 - new model looks great.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
