Manny won last night. Any boxing fans on WSO?

So Pacman kicked some butt last night in Macau. Granted Rios had no chance given his style, he was still a hard hitter and Manny put to rest the notion that he's done.

Now the Manny vs Floyd hoopla has begun again. As much as I like Pac, I think he would lose to Floyd at this point in his career, best case scenario I see for Manny would be losing a split decision. I'm not necessarily a Floyd fan but I always appreciate someone who has worked as hard as he has and positioned himself so well. Also, he's arguably the best fighter of this generation. With that said, I think Floyd needs to make this fight happen otherwise his legacy will not be as pristine as he wants it to be. Bottom line is that Pacman in 09-10 would've went to work on Floyd, not saying he would've won but it would've been hella close. Floyd in his career has never fought anyone as good as the Pacquiao of a few years back. I think Floyd's legacy has already taken a hit since he ducked that fight but I think he could gain ground on that front if he agrees to fight now.

Any boxing fans care to chime on the fight??

I actually think that the fight could happen this time around. Especially with the whole typhoon thing going on and Pacquiao wanting to make a large donation... can't get any larger than the money he would make fighting Mayweather. With that said though I dont think he deserves the fight just yet... Maybe go back and beat Marquez and then talk about fighting Floyd. I also personally don't think Pacquiao has the slightest chance on beating Mayweather but it is the closest thing we're gonna get... also saying that "oh in 09-10 Pacquiao was a whole different boxer" goes the same for Mayweather (although he fought less) and Mayweather is still 2 years older than him so its ridiculous to even use that excuse

Regardless I look forward to the fight if it ever happens and let's have a WSO Meetup in Vegas before the big event!

I didn't make an excuse. I think Floyd has actually gotten better with time while Manny has declined. If you honestly think Manny would've convincingly lost in 09 to Mayweather then I don't know what to say. The guy was the most dominant welterweight by a large margin. Look what he did to Cotto, Margarito, De la Hoya, Hatton. These were top of the line fighters he put down with ease. Mayweather beat De la Hoya by a very very slight margin, Cotto actually put up a close fight with Floyd. But yea, at this point, Floyd has refined his defense to the point where he is untouchable. Manny would lose now but I think the fact that he is Manny, he deserves that shot.

^ Agreed - in my mind Marquez beat Manny in every one of their prior fights, making this much more critical.

In my mind, I thought Manny won all of the first 3. Definitely positive about fight 2 - the knockdown was the difference. Manny won fight 1 but one of the judged scored the first found incorrectly.

I think Manny won 2, the draw was bullshit in my opinion, should've gave it to Marquez. The last fight, Manny would've won with either a TKO or decision had he kept calm and fought smart. He got caught by someone he fought 3 times before....they both knew each other well...Marquez used that knowledge when it counted most. He knew Manny pushes hard as fuck until the bell rings.
