Masters in Finance : University of Arizona vs University of Buffalo

Hello Friends. I have applied at various universities for MSF. I have received admits from UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA and UNIVERSITY OF BUFFALO.I am really confused between the two. Can you please rank the universities.

would like some more info on the UB msf as well. Anybody know what's up with their placement? Its super cheap, especially for NY residents and their management undergrad program actually saw recruiting from Citi (rotational including ER) and BAML (credit analyst)

Those positions are posted every year and they will interview 1 to 2 students. The program is awful and the university has a horrible repuration in finance. Do not attend.

what is your UG school? You dont have to answer me, but compare it to the reps of UA or UB

If you're international, i won't be surprised if you can't find jobs in U.S. and may need to return back to your country--they're not highly ranked MSFs. Jobs will be only open to the few best students.

If you're US resident, then unless your UG is not Finance, there is no point doing MSF---people like to see work exp anyways, unless it's a MIT MFin or such. Even UIUC MSF has subpar job rates.

If your UG isnt finance and you want to do MSF, either take 1-year and get out fast to earn work exp, or just apply to entry Fin jobs without MSF. Enough people go into IB with Math Stats Engr degrees.

thank you for the insight panda. I actually attended a public university that's probably on par with UB. literally nothing as far as recruiting for the business program.

thats why i was asking about the mfin as a rebranding to break in, but I don't want it to end up being another situation like undergrad. it seems like the schools offering mfins aren't true target schools, which is why I'm hesitant.

the entire point of the education is on campus recruiting, so paying money for a weak program is a total waste.

Have you seen this list?

It's a good starting point. Any school in Tier 1-1B will give you good prospects, even Tier 2 has some good interview spots. Some of the better schools aren't even that difficult to get into. Also note UB in Tier 5.

Neither program will provide great career opportunities for international students. Of the two I'd probably pick Arizona simply for the weather and experience.

Did you apply elsewhere? Why those schools?
