MD added me on linkedin?

Umm, a few days ago I was asked by HR to submit a PDF version of my resume because there were problems with the previous one.

Then, I went on linkedin and browsed a couple of people working for the firm I applied to, including this MD. Lets call him Adama.

Then yesterday I received a linkedin notification from Adama asking me to accept the invitation.

I go to a different target than he and I have never met him before, let alone spoken to him. I doubt he added me by mistake because to add someone on linkedin you have to indicate where you got to know this person. He indicated that we've done business before.

Why would he care to add a fresh-out-of-school-no-fin-ib-consulting-experience dude like myself?

What's the story here?
