Med school targets?

I'm a current medical student applying to advanced degree consulting programs (specifically Bain's MD Scholar program and Mckinsey's MD Fellowship). I generally know that my school is a target for undergrad, but does this translate to it's medical school (ranked significantly lower)? Thanks in advance.

Anything with lay prestige will translate somewhat, particularly Ivy and Stanford. Trust me they don't give a damn (or know) that University of Washington or Colorado are "top 10" strong med schools. On the flip side places like Dartmouth or Brown are pretty average medical schools but would be looked upon favorably based on the name alone.

Good luck.

Haha you're right on the money man, I'm @ Geisel/Alpert. Would you say the "ivy" boost is enough to transition from MD to MBB? My understanding was that a lot of these positions are limited to the top 5 med schools. If it helps, I did my UG at a similarly "prestigious" school.

Generally speaking you won’t get actively recruited to leave med school unless you are at Harvard/Stanford/Penn and maybe one of the Chicago schools. Other than that you’ll have to forge your own way. Either leave and go all in there or complete a residency, but I don’t recommend pussyfooting around until you have spent the full 4 years or tuition. Gotta go all in on either-or. I’m completing a residency first because at this point it would be stupid not to. If you are MS1/2 then the paradigm favors going a different direction as opposed to seeing it through. If you don’t like medicine there is no reason to continue.
