Mentoring needed as incoming MSc Student breaking into consulting
Looking for some focused advice on entering into consulting this coming recruiting cycle. Just finished undergrad with a liberal arts degree from a non-target public school in the US, but will be entering a top school in the UK this fall for an MSc program. Graduated with 3.9/4 GPA, a few public/ non-profit internships, and a strong track record for self-directed academic research (initially planned to go into academia/Ph.D. until recently). Virtually I have no personal or broader network/connections with anyone in consulting.
Already started case study prep (CaseCoach, PrepLounge, etc.), but am looking for tailored advice about recruiting dates/ timelines, networking, and application materials. Also looking to get some feedback on which firms I have a real chance with based on my profile and preferred locations. Hoping to focus on applying to tier-2 firms, with a number of applications to boutique firms in the US, UK or Canada. Not sure if this is the best approach, but also looking to get info/ feedback on this.
Happy to provide more details if needed.
