MFE reality check
Hi, I just graduated with honours bachelors of mathematics, (statistics, econ and finance major) with a 3.7 gpa.
Even though my overall gpa is lackluster, its only because 1st year I got 3.0, 2nd year I got 3.7 and 3rd and 4th year I kept getting 4.0.
Is it even worth it to dream about going to the following schools: Columbia MFE Princeton mfin MIT MFin Berkeley mfe Cornell mfe NYU
- On a side note, I did intern as a quant in hedging for variable annuities for 8 months.
Thanks!

Depends on a few things. Have you taken the GRE? What caliber school did you go to for undergrad? Have you done research?
I haven't done GRE yet, but I know that I will be able to get really high in the quant. I got 169 and 170 on practice tests without even preparing. Verbal, I think I should be able to get atleast 150.
My undergrad is a top school in mathematics and engineering in Canada.
Also for research I haven't got any, is that going to hurt a lot?
Definitely take the GRE and do well. Not having research won't help but some of the programs you listed look favorably upon it.
Also prior comp sci experience is crucial. If you don't have that anywhere on your CV or application, it may be a big hindrance.
