Moderate GPA and GMAT what are my chances at Msc. Finance Program

Hi all,

Here my profile desperate for your advice:

  • Male, 26 yrs old, coming from a SEA country

  • Background: Bachelor in Econ - GPA: 3,18/4

  • GMAT: 660 (Q50,V30) really messed up the verbal session but i'm on a time constraint so retaking isnt an option

  • Passed CFA level 1

  • 1.5+ yrs of relevant working experience includes: 6 months in a fintech startup, 3 month back office internship at a fund, 1 year as investment analyst

My target program: Mfin @ Bocconi, ESSEC (looking at the class profile, my chance is kinda slim :< ), Dauphine

Can you guys give me some inputs ? Really appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Right, to get in Dauphine is the easiest part. Getting the right Master is a different story. The best program there is called the Master 225 (Corporate Finance & Financial Engineering). This is your best way for Investment Banking in Paris.

Now keep in mind the french culture in IB is a bit special, they don’t hire foreigners unless they have a pristine level of french. French culture is really about all the little quirks and small jokes and implicit language in the office, unlike in London it’s a lot more secluded.

You could still try and apply to London positions with Dauphine, but Essec might give you a better shot at that. It’s a lot more expensive and probably not worth it if you can make it to Dauphine 225. I also heard that Dauphine is a lot more demanding than ESSEC, but I might be wrong on that.

You light want to check this link : https://www.master225.com/procedure-admission-master-225.html

In fact i'm considering the 225 as well as the 203. How do ppl in EU view the 203?

Tho I do not breath french, but I'm kinda understand ppl speaking and its nuance quite well and keen on improving it.

Have you also looked into Grenoble Ecole de Management and IE Business school's Finance program? With CFA L1 - you get a GMAT waiver at these schools. If you had CFA L2 - you could've also got GMAT waiver at LBS
