Morgan Stanley Assessment Centre - Help!

I have a bunch of questions about the assessment centre in London for Morgan Stanley for Summer Analyst in Equity Research 2011:

(from their homepage: group exercises, interviews, psychometric tests and role plays.)

1: Anyone who has been there who can describe what it's like?

2: How technical is it?

3: What does the individual presentation consist of?

4: Roughly what percentage of the people who make it to the AC also gets an offer?

5: Is there anything in particualar I shoul read up on? Certain valuation models etc etc...

Thanks in advance! Really appriciate anyone who can answer any question - or just link to another post or forum that I haven't found!

Hey ZappHod666,

a friend of mine interviewed with them last year! He said it was not very technical and more focused on his personal fit! However he is a biology major so I believe it will be a bit different if you are studying economics or finance.... He also got some interview questions in spanish since he indicated on his CV he was able to speak it and his interviewer happened to be from Madrid... He got accepted but chose a different offer so I dont know how many people from his AC got in!

When will you attend the AC some people from my school have one in the middle of January!!! I did not know research is so big!!! Must be all the people that read Cityboy....

I hope this could help you a little bit!

Hi, I did the AC for Technology back in November. I didn't get the offer, but I remember it pretty clearly. BTW this was in NYC so I suspect there's some differences..

  1. Basically you are brought into a large conference room with some refreshments etc, with a bunch of HR people. We each got a folder with our interview schedule, some writing paper, a pen, etc. HR described the process and then we were moved to separate rooms for a group activity and group presentation (Message me if you want details)

After the group activity, we had a short break and then were sent to the interview room (it was a large room with lots of tables/refreshments and everyone interviewed in the same room at the same time). Four rounds, all were associate/VP. The interviews were back-to-back and I just sat in the same chair, with the interviewers arriving one after the other.

  1. Since I interviewed for Technology, it was highly technical. Almost no personality/fit based questions were asked.

4: Hard to say, but I'd say maybe one in four or five. I already had another offer which was very attractive (compensation-wise) and I had to push HR for updates because of its deadline; this might have been why I didn't get the offer. Make sure to show lots of interest.
