It's probably filling in numbers using a quarterly earnings press release, along with writing your own commentary about the quarter.

The easy form would literally be filling in the income statement numbers so that the diluted EPS and adjusted figures (EBITDA / EPS) match the press release and calculate some ratios (inventory turnover, etc.). The hard form (which Morgan Stanley does) is you need to fill in numbers in all three statements for the quarter and link the three statements together and make some forecasts while the balance sheet balances.

Good luck.
