MSc in Accounting, Organisations and Insitutions at LSE for IB?
Hey everyone,
I have an offer from RSM for their MSc in Finance and Investments and I am thinking of applying for MSc in Accounting, Organisations and Insitutions at LSE. I am NEITHER eligible for MSc Finance NOR for MSc Accounting and Finance at LSE. So please no comments like "You should apply for MSc Finance,..." ;) It's simply because my GMAT is way too low (610) and I dont have time to retake it, I want to do more internships instead of studying again for 3 months.
I have top grades (among the best of my cohort), scholarships, internship at a Big4 in advisory, international experience.. So I think I'd have a chance for the program at LSE mentioned above. (It doesnt require gmat score)
What would you recommend? Go for the Finance Master at Rotterdam School of Management or apply at LSE even though its not one of the top-notch programs? My goal is to end up in the IBD at BB bank, probably for 2-3 years and then switch to PE or go for an MBA at a top school. What would you say in terms of getting into a good business school (US) for doing an MBA? LSE would then probably the way to go, right?
On the other hand, at RSM I have the opportunity to extend the program for 1 semester and go abroad. They have partner schools like Wharton, Ross, Booth, Duke,..
Please, I need some advice!

Rotterdam places well in London, so your chances shouldn't be bad. LSE costs a shit load of money and doesn't guarantee a job in London, so you might as well take the lesser of the two evils. Additionally, I have never heard of that program and, besides being certain that it doesn't matter what program you do at LSE, I am not sure it will give you any unique recruiting opps.
Yea I would only go for that program because of the LSE brand. It's basically an Accounting master with 3 compulsory courses, so I'd have the chance to take only Finance classes as electives. (thats at least what i believe) I think it's actually quite a good program given that it doesn't require a gmat score. Fees are the same as for the Acc&Fin master though.
What about outside of IB in London? Because I don't think that thats what I wanna do for my entire life ^^ Also I am not even sure if I wanna end up in a London office or somewhere else. I guess LSE is much better recognized, regardless of the industry and country?
Rotterdam obviously places well in the Netherlands. Not sure about the rest of Europe but I would imagine that it does place well throughout Europe, as long as you fulfill language requirements. If you are set on LSE, I would encourage you to apply, but try to find a somewhat relevant MSc that isn't as popular as your 2nd choice. I don't know if it is still the case, but MSc Economic History used to be a good 2nd choice.

Thanks for your answer, CitySlicker!!
I haven't heard of the MSc in Risk and Finance before and I just checked out the course content and it sounds really good. However, I am not sure if my profile is strong enough, especially my gmat score is a desaster. I scored 45 in Quant though, which is not exceptional but still not that bad.
I know that you can apply for 2 programs, but your chances of acceptance for the 2nd choice is apparently much lower. So i am not sure whether I should take the risk and apply for that program as my first choice with my low GMAT score? What is considered "relevant" work experience? I only have a 6-months big4 internship in corporate finance on my CV. Also the acceptance rate for Risk and Finance is lower (6-7%) than for Accounting, Organisations and Institutions (about 10%).
I think RSM also places (well) in London. Of course LSE is way better.. but I am still not sure if the mentioned program at LSE places as well as the others do (i.e. Finance, Accounting & Finance etc.) For now I think I'll apply for the Accounting, Organisations and Insitutions program because that's the one with the highest chances for me to get accepted. If I get an offer I can still decide which one I am going to attend and if I get rejected then it'll be Rotterdam anyways. Any other inputs on the Accounting, Organisations and Instiutions program would be appreciated. Or any information about LSE and whether it matters which program one attends or not.
I am as well interested in the MSc in Accounting, Organisations and Institutions at LSE.
What would you guys choose if your goal is to end up in IB in London: - MSc Finance & Investments at RSM - MSc in Accounting, Organisations and Institutions at LSE (2 or 3 mandatory Accounting classes and the electives can be chosen from Finance classes)
Thanks for your help!
