MSF... or what?
Few facts about me
-
Lower end SEC school (US News ranking wise)
-
4.0 GPA, Finance major - Math minor
-
Practice GMAT's all 700+
-
18, graduating next spring (the weird part of my application)
-
Internship/Assistant to CFO and VP of HR for a midstream oil company over the summer and any time I'm not in school.
-
(Likely doesn't matter) Tutor for special needs students at a tutoring center for 1yr.
Part of the reason (minor) that I'm applying is because I realize I'm not an attractive candidate for most firms I'd like to work for. I'm likely way younger than their average incoming employee, and my school has little - no cities/places to intern within 3-5 hours of driving. I'd like to study at an MSF overseas or in the northeast somewhere, and my list from most likely to attend if accepted - lowest likely is:
- Princeton/Columbia
- Oxford/LSE
- LBS/Yale double degree
- UT Austin
I was also considering some of the MBA deferral schools (2+2 at Harvard, Yale'Silver scholars, etc), but I was told my chances would be awful. And advice on what to do next would be appreciated, Thanks!
0 chances to get into an MBA program. You should try LSE, LBS, HEC, but also IE and Bocconi. Also improve on your GMAT. 700 means nothing nowadays.
Okie dokie, I failed to mention I run an investment fund with about 63k assets, but I doubt that would have any effect if the chance is 0.
hold on you might not have a shot at the traditional MBA program right now, but I think you do have a shot at the MBA deferral programs. Your app seems really impressive (how old were you when you started college jesus)
Go ahead and apply to the MSF programs, I think they'll be somewhat receptive if you can get your gmat towards the 730+ range, and you'll be fine
worse case see if your cfo mentor can help u look for jobs, im sure he could help
