MSRED/JD vs. MBA/JD

Hey guys, I'm in the real estate field and aspire to be in REPE, or REDev. I have a couple of questions; First are the dual programs worth it?

Secondly, would you rather get a MBA/JD or MSRED/JD, or would you just not get the JD at all?

Lastly, how much of a time commitment will this take?

A JD takes three years of your life. You should absolutely not get a JD unless you plan on being an attorney. If you are set on law, but are interested in RE or corp law go ahead and tack on an extra year for a masters. If you just want to work in REPE it makes zero financial sense to get a law degree. You will miss out on three years of salary and promotions while likely taking on $100k plus in debt.

There is something to be said for going to law school for the intellectual pursuit, but most of us don't have the time or money for that.
