My Boss doesn't want to let me go

I told my boss that i wanna leave at the of the next month, but i haven't told him that i got an offer from another company. I thought i didn't matter that for what reason i leave.

He is a good guys and i respect him, but he asked me to be more flexible and stay with the company till end of the year. Because they really need me.

And i didn't have the courage to say no, i have to leave ( because another company is pressuring me to start faster) and i told him i will think about it. However, the company which gave me the offer doesn't want to wait more then 3 weeks.

Given that i haven't told him about the offer, how can i now tell him that i have to leave at the end of next month without hurting his feelings?

Honesty is the best policy. I’d personally explain to him that you’re leaving for another opportunity and explain your reasons for doing so.

I imagine it sucks for him to lose someone but that’s just life and it’s part of the industry. If he really is a good guy he will understand and be pleased for you. If he gets annoyed about it, he’s probably not someone you want to keep in contact with anyway.

I wouldn’t push back your start date at the new job... last thing you want to do is start a new job with a negative impression.
