Need help deciding out of UG - IB vs Growth Equity

I have an offer at reputable MM tech group with strong deal flow and good experience. However, it is an absolute sweatshop with regular 2-4 AM nights and no protected weekends.

I also have the possibility of joining a well known growth equity firm (JMI, Silversmith, Volition) as an Analyst. The role will mainly be sourcing, it is less hours. Comp is ~135k so a 50-75k discount.

I think the growth equity role is much more interesting but worried about the realities of sourcing and not developing the skills learned in banking. What are exit opps from an GE analyst role? Is this a disadvantage?

Depends heavily on what you want to do further down the road. If you want to do buyout PE, go with the IB route. If you want to do GE or VC, go with GE. With that said, I wouldn’t underestimate how grueling those top MM tech groups are. If it’s one of Blair, Baird, or Jef, you will be grinded to an unbelievable level.
