Need to Brush up on your Accounting Skills?

Some of you may have heard that Harvard Business School does not teach introductory accounting classes anymore. One of the reasons is that they use an online accounting software from a BYU professor, who is now providing his course for free.

Has some pretty good exposure and some top endorsements, so it might be worth checking out. Linked below.

Is there something like this for the finance side? (for us accountants)

As ex-Big4, believe me... I wish.

However, you can get REALLY good information from the guides right here on WSO, and the websites Ibankingfaq and Mergers and Inquisitions (BWIS guides).

Stormin Norman the Mormon! This was BYUs Accounting 200 course for years, prerequisite for their top ranked accounting program. Took it from Master Nemrow the last semester he taught. Fantastic material, thanks for posting!

"Do I need to be liked? Absolutely not. I like to be liked. I enjoy being liked. I have to be liked. But it's not like a compulsive need to be liked. Like my need to be praised."

Thanks for this! It looks awesome, however... Is anyone else getting a 'PlaybackError' for the video that should be playing in the top left corner. I've tried this in IE and Chrome and I'm having the same issue. I also sent a note to the Tech Support but haven't heard back. If anyone has any idea how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it because at this point I'm stuck.

That is typically caused by a firewall interrupting the video stream. You can add our url to the firewall exception list and that should fix the issue. However, I think the easiest solution is to use our new HTML5 app that we are developing. It is till in beta form but it it build on a very powerful content delivery network and should get around the firewall issue. I can't post a URL but if you edit the apps current url from .com/languageofbusiness2013v2/acw.html to .com/webapp then you can login to the beta version.

Is the site working for everyone else? Just tried it and am getting Database Error "Error establishing a database connection"

Server had a glitch for a few minutes... everything is up and working.

Why hello, you're welcome for posting a link to your website here :).

I used the software myself during undergrad and loved it. Tell the boss man thanks for me.

I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the information. I was thinking they would be short lectures on basic topics, but there is a shocking amount of information. Each of the lectures come with practice problems that the lecturer walks through later if you want them. The coolest feature for me was the ability to speed up the lecture to get through the lesson in half of the time. Haven't tried any of the advanced courses yet, but am planning on the advanced financial accounting as well.

...and then you realize that you can't open it on the iPad.
