No More GS Discount - 2021 Bonuses
With the GS salary bump announced recently, was pretty nervous it would come out of our bonuses. However, this year, the bonuses were MONSTROUS for GS Classics.
First year analyst bonuses topped at $115k, with mid / up rounding into $95k, bottom getting $75k. Second year analysts topped out at $145k in my team, with mid being $125k. With these numbers, and second year analysts now getting $125k base, seems like a top second year analyst could rack in $270k pre tax - wow.
Anyone else here in GS classics who can provide insight into their team? Sick year for industry comp as a whole.

Financing Group was also monstrous - same level 120-140k
Is this really a surprise given how many people quit before bonuses or lateraled away? Feels too low considering how much of the bonus pool remained the same with less fish to feed…
You are asking the right questions
Not exactly true here - tons of people left, but they also hired a lot of people and they were all paid full bonuses. Makes up for it.

If you don't mind my asking, could you break out your base, bonus, and total comp figures for MS? Also which group and office are you in?

Would 1x for a second year analyst be considered bottom bucket at GS then? Does anyone know how the different industry groups compared or were they all pretty similar?
Less sure across industry groups, but you get paid less if you're leaving. Topped out oat 125k if you are exiting.
The real question here would be to know whether that starts to make us too expensive to hire for PE funds

It's GS – there is no way they will continue paying as much. They will make sure to find a way to screw you over sooner than you'd expect.
What are the comp ranges for associates?
50k - 170k
when is GS paying out? heard it's an off cycle pay date
Is GS's new base salary just for IB analysts or also PWM and Asset Management? I know the bonuses will be very different.
New GS analyst base is for all FO roles, S&T, AM, PWM effective Jan 1.
what's the new base and bonus for associates?
$175/200/225K for base. Bonus in this new era has not been announced yet. Sign-on bonus for MBA is $50K.
