No Superdays?

Hey guys -

I'm a current sophomore recruiting for SA 2019 positions. Have had first rounds with two lower tier banks (think DB, RBC) and thought the interviews both went well. I wasn't invited for a superday for either bank.

I have a 3.8+ GPA from a target school, past IB experience, and am generally a likable person. I have interesting stories to tell and am definitely not just a robot. Is this just chance right here or is there something I'm doing wrong? Any insight would be appreciated

It's still very early in the process, but my guess would be you're not "memorable" enough or you don't have any connections at the firms you're applying to and you've nopt expressed interest in the banks. Also, some banks like DB and RBC might just think you're overqualified, and they'd rather take someone who's more likely to accept offer, but that's just my guess. Good luck!

Your stats are good, so it's definitely a problem with how you interview. Review your answers and find if there's anything you can improve. Also, try to reflect on your behavior - if you appeared too eager/arrogant etc.

To infinity... and beyond!

Being too eager, as in showing way too much excitement for the job, can be a turn-off for many interviewers, as it shows you're annoying and makes you look desperate. Being too confident may also signal arrogance, which is a big no-no. Humble confidence is usually what most people are looking for, and showing interest in the job without being irritating.

To infinity... and beyond!
