Non Ivy League degree - am I doomed
Realistically, how much disappointment can I expect to face upon graduation (in terms of landing a nice job with a reputable firm) considering that I don't go to an Ivy League institution?
Does the fact that I go to a reputable private school (particularly in finance, business, economics, and accounting) in downtown Chicago help?
Advice?
you'll be just fine.
This isn't real.
Just work harder than the ivy students and you'll be fine.
Is this actually true?
No one that didn't have an ivy league degree ever made it anywhere. You're doomed.
Have fun working in ops and living in Queens you low-expectation non-prestigious twat
Jesus man, the title of your post tells me you don't use search around here, and this is an extreme case of one of those types of posts. Relax, you're not doomed.
Also, doing well at DePaul can open plenty of doors in Chicago.
It's all on you man, bust your ass! You're not going to go anymore if you're already limiting yourself... It's not just about the name of the school!
you're fucked. no chance whatsoever
Well if you didn't attend Upenn. Yes you are in serious Shit.
If you really want this, the odds don't matter.
Give us more stats...how far are you into college? Relevant work experience?
If you go to DePaul it's not the end of the world. I don't know your shots at a BB office in Chicago, but you definitely could get somewhere in boutique/MM space with solid networking. There are a lot of decent Chicago-based firms who are not as Ivy-league filled as their NYC counterparts...just realize you might not be BB bound.
Remember, there is no nobility in poverty.
Doomed.
pack your shit...mexico beckons.
Short answer: Yes Long answer: No
I'd like a large marguerita pizza, two wings and a regular coke please. I'll pay in cash.
