NYU CAS Econ vs Villanova Finance (Undergrad)

Deciding between NYU CAS Econ and Villanova School of Business Finance for early decision with a decent chance at getting into Nova. Looking to break into investment banking, but don't know which school would help the most. I understand that NYU CAS doesn't come remotely close to the recruitment level of Stern, so I would think about transferring into Stern. I understand that is no easy feat, and is still hard to integrate into Stern community, but might be worth a shot. I have heard that Nova, while still considered a semi-target, has alumni that will go to bat for you and good networking at many banks. Thanks.

Food for thought, a friend in NYU has told me that it seems as if every single person is pursuing IB. He said all of stern definitely, but even CAS has a ton of kids looking to break in.

I have heard that, but didn't know how true that was. Definitely makes everything harder. At the end of the day, they are both great schools with great names, but also very competitive for IB, but who knows. Thanks

I think NYU CAS would be better for IBD. You could try transferring to Stern and if not, at least minor in something from Stern. You'll be able to do year-round internships and as long as your GPA is solid, you should end up at a solid place. Remember, even some Stern kids struggle for BB IBD

Villanova's a solid option also. May be more fun. They've got a great basketball team and you would have a more traditional college experience. However, many of the kids there went to elite schools and are quite snobby.

This is all very true. I like many Villanova students go to an elite school in New England, so Villanova would be incredibly familiar, but this isn't something I would want for a college experience. At the end of the day NYU is competitive, but getting into the right clubs (M+A Society) and great grades at Villanova will surely lead to great jobs, at least at a MM Bank. It is still hard to deny what NYU has going for it though.
