Odyssey search?

Anyone heard of Odyssey search partners? They reached out to me and said they got a list from a fund with my name on it and wanted to chat. I'm just wondering why the fund wouldn't reach out to me directly and if it's worth having a conversation. Appreciate any thoughts here.

"sonibubu" Got it. Thank you. So probably a waste of time you think? I'm not really looking to make a move anyways.

they're reputable for more senior hires but a broker is a broker is a broker.

Not sure what question is if you're not looking to move...are you hoping a reputable search firm will convince you to move?

I'm in an analyst role right now without a book. If I get a chance to run even a small book, I'd listen. Only issue is that my team is having a pretty good year so far (biggest reason I'm not looking to move) so it would have to be very compelling at this time.

Ok thanks guys. Just for reference, the process went well. I had a couple calls for a role at Baly but I backed out because it wasn't a big enough step up from my current role, plus we're having a big year (fingers crossed). The process went very well and I would recommend Odyssey. Very professional and good communication to keep candidates in the loop.

I've worked with Odyssey for the last ~7 months and only have good things to say. One of the recruiters was a former banker at my firm and put me in front of some great funds. They got me into the process at Vista Public Strategies, helped me with interview prep / what to expect at each round (broadly), and checked in throughout the process. Generally seem to have more SM HF opps than MM. Big fan of them and continue to work with them (didn't get the VPS role).

As others have said, within distressed, their client list is second only to Dynamics. Highly professional and knowledgeable individuals that can answer pretty much any question you have on fund strategy, culture, etc.
