It's not so much "liberals" want it to continue as it is that the administrative class, the ruling regime, wants it to continue. It's the same reason why there is so much grift in defense spending. If you want the Defense Department to maybe operate on a more efficient budget instead of throwing billions at Lockheed, you must HATE THE TROOPS and be UNAMERICAN UNPATRIOTIC. Likewise if you want to call the CDC out on their bullshit, how Fauci's decisions during AIDS in the 1980s were disastrous, you must WANT TO LITERALLY KILL GRANDMA.

This isn't about left vs. right but just about power, a federal government bureaucracy that was never meant to be this big, has zero accountability, and a sycophantic corporate media that doesn't want to bite the Pfizer ad money that feeds them.

Liberals play Covid like Pokémon now. Omicron, I choose you!

Covid is over if you want. Nobody gives a shit where I live and everyone is doing fine. Insane that places are still in lockdown - life is back to normal down here in the south

Liberals are the ones enjoying normal life while being vaccinated, while red counties have 3x the death rate of blue ones and it's rapidly growing.

The good news is red America has been building up natural immunity from this bloodbath so hopefully the coming omnicron wave doesn't hit them as hard as the previous waves.

You guys are wearing cloths over your face and freaking taking precautions over a disease that has a ~0.01% fatality rate for the non-elderly who don't have pre-existing conditions.  If that's what "living your life" looks like, I'll take the other "living your life" which is being sane and living like you did pre-COVID.

You are a gigantic loser.

Call me a tin foil hat wearer but I believe Fauci's quote about waiting until we see whether the variant evades vaccines (instead of instituting a travel ban right away) is intentional just like his comment over a year ago to dissuade people from wearing masks untll it had killed thousands.

We're either unknowingly part of a worldwide lab experiment, economic great reset, or both.

I think left/right is a bit misleading it's more like establishment (coporate Dems + RINOs) vs. anti-establishment (MAGA + Bernie bros.). There's definitely a possibility that the extreme hesitancy towards vaccines (excepting legitimate religious/philsophical/medical exemptions) was fueled intentionally to try to kill off the anti-establishment movement (and the compelling evidence towards this is the fact that FOX has a vaccine passport themselves).

With masks it's possible that Trump was secretly working for those who wanted a great reset/worldwide lab trial, but I think it's pretty unlikely for the following reasons:

1) Trump had ego issues, and so I truly believe that he didn't wear a thick mask simply because he had a superhero complex. Considering his popularity when Trump said "Jump!", the governors said "How high?".

2) Trump's business portfolio was impacted extremely negatively by the pandemic. Typically when evaluating these tin-foil hat theories, there's usually business interests that lead to these hypotheses. For example I could say that Big Tech squashed alternative treatments to COVID outside of the vaccine because tech industries boomed during the pandemic. I'm not denying this is still in tin foil hat territory, but you can at least see there's a logical underlying argument. In the case of Trump he holds mainly hotels, golf resorts, casinos, luxury condos/office space in tourist destinations or big dense cities all of which clearly saw huge revenue drops during the pandemic. So because of that I don't think it makes logical sense to say that Trump was secretly in on some hidden motive.

Amusing that it's an anagram for moronic, which is what anyone who thinks this new "variant" is worth giving importance to is. The pandemic is over as soon as people want it to be. Complying for almost 2 years didn't fix it and neither will complying for 2 more. To the cowards who use the excuse "well I won't be able to afford to feed my kids" - how's that inflation and supply chain shortage treating you?

Except the people who don't comply are the reason the virus is still plaguing the country.

The American right wing doesn't get vaccinated, doesn't social distance, and as a result they die en masse.  And then they say "Hey, why hasn't the virus gone away?  I guess that means there's nothing we can do about it!".

Nov 27, 2021 - 2:32pm
  • Prior to the availability of vaccines, there was not a consistent partisan correlation in deaths.

From your own article.

Social distancing/blanket mask mandates/lockdowns/reduced capacity, etc. seem to have no correlation.

I'm buying the dip, 60% of Americans are vaccinated, 70% have gotten one dose, a good amount of the remaining 30% have gotten covid already. Data is coming out showing natural immunity is similar effective as vaccines. At this point if you have chosen not to get vaccinated, then you made a choice. We have no information that Omicron is any more deadly than any other variant. Odds are the vaccines will provide at least some protection against Omicron and treatment methods are significantly better at this point with more options every day. Reality is we are going to have variants of covid for the rest of our lives and we need to choose whether to deal with it and move on with life or live scared. Over time, it is thought covid will get weaker as it mutates, The coronavirus could end up mild like a common cold (nih.gov). Any sort of lock-down behavior in the US will be overreaction at this point until we have data on the potency of this and how it reacts against vaccines. I think people will revolt against any sort of lock-downs/extreme restrictions this time around. <1% death rate if unvaccinated and don't have existing complications, way lower if vaccinated or have natural immunity = follow the science and common sense. If you have existing complications, stay safe, rest of us live on.

Buckle up for two weeks of CNN fear mongering then everyone realizes we will be fine and then move on with life.

Nov 27, 2021 - 4:44pm

"We have no information that Omicron is any more deadly than any other variant." - South Africa's medical chief Dr. Angelique Coetzee described the panic as a "storm in a teacup," adding that she had only seen "very very mild cases" of the variant so far.

"Odds are the vaccines will provide at least some protection against Omicron and treatment methods are significantly better at this point with more options every day." - According to Botswana's reports, all four cases there were fully vaccinated for COVID, but this is supposed to be a new version anyways ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

"I think people will revolt against any sort of lock-downs/extreme restrictions this time around." - Just look up the recent riots in the Netherlands as a good example. I mean, they tried to burn down the friggin' Hague!

All told, I'm with Rags.

Nov 27, 2021 - 5:13pm

good take, however I would wait until experts confirm that vaccines are reasonable effective against this variant, because the reason why people and markets react is because this variant mutated significantly more than others. and about buying the dip in broad market: airlines and oil companies will definitely lose a lot of money because of this variant. and tech is already overinflated and begs for a correction. I'm only buying beat down stocks that are pandemic-proof.

Nov 27, 2021 - 5:13pm

Delta is basically over and everyone forgot about it and now suddenly Omicron appears? IMAGINE MY SHOCK!

Can't wait for everyone to move on from Omicron and then have another "appear". This shit will never end because governments realized they can control anyone they want with it

Nov 27, 2021 - 6:28pm

If you seriously don't think covid is being used as a tool to control people than you are too stupid to bother having a conversation with. They have milked for all it's worth a virus that is 99% survivable which gives most people nothing more than the sniffles to the point where you are now forced to get a vaccine against your will or risk losing your job and livelihood. I went to a store the other day and was immediately accosted by a man demanding I show my proof of vaccination. That is some absolute clown world shit.

As soon as "regular" covid died down the delta variant appeared. As soon as the delta variant died down as well suddenly the omicron variant is here. This is never going to stop as long as people like you call it "conspiracy theories" to even question it.

Go get your booster, cuck

You're right - the Chinese created a bio-medical weapon and the Democrats got a hard-on when they realized how much power they could exercise in the name of public health.

This shit will never end because governments realized they can control anyone they want with it

New York State Governor, Kathy Hochul, declared a state of emergency over the Omicron variant. She said in a statement, "While the new Omicron variant has yet to be detected in New York State, it's coming,"

…yes that is how highly transmissible viruses work - by time they're detected, community spread is probably inevitable, so she's being proactive. How did any you Covid truthers graduate high school?

Everyone rolling their eyes at "another strain" ignores the fact that Delta (once just another strain) rapidly changed the IFR and Ro of covid-19. No reason to panic yet, but certainly worth keeping an eye on.

"I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."

Got to give it to the Techno Medical cabal.  They sure know how to send the sheeple scampering back into their holes and diverting their attention from inflation, supply chain disasters, Maxwell trial, 35% approval ratings, printing money, and blatent Socialism hidden behind the Kabuki Theater of mask wearing tyrants.

[Golf clap]

One more time for the group.

Varients of a virus are LESS lethal and infectious than the original and anyone who thinks that all of these people died OF Covid (not WITH) need to take a moment and check out the actual CDC raw data.

Please turn off your psy-op mass media.  Put down your smart phones and go outside and get some fresh air and go for a walk.

Namaste.

I stopped caring about COVID once mass riots apparently are okay.

"But but but the science..." stop. I don't want to hear it. You can't say freedom of assembly is okay for one thing and then not for another. I'm actually sympathetic to the cause of police reform since other less divisive cases didn't get as much attention, but you want to say "mostly peaceful" Kenosha was okay but you can't have a small business open? We need to close down gyms but liquor stores are okay? Eat a dick.

"But but but Trump is mean" cool story, if you want me to defend Trump, I'm not going to. He could have fired Fauci and publicly repudiated him, but he didn't.

If you really want to wear a mask or any other article of clothing, knock yourself out and I support your freedom to do so, just don't drag the rest of us down with your cult. COVID will linger on for a while since people for the first time in their lives had something "important" to think they were a part of, so instead of their 9 to 5 job and saving in their 401k, coming home to watch Netflix with their fat wife, they instead could find some meaning yelling at strangers to wear a mask. Fuck off. Get a life.

Nov 27, 2021 - 10:57pm

Trump had minimal interest in how the levers of government worked. I mean holy shit, he hired Chris fucking Wray to run the FBI. I'm absolutely glad he won in 2016 instead of Jeb or Hillary, and I'd absolutely prefer him to Biden, but looking forward to 2024, there are a LOT better options.

At the rate things are going with Biden now though, I wonder when Biden is finally going to snap and start tweeting "Presidential Harassment!"

Nov 27, 2021 - 11:36pm

There's an entire generation of people without meaning (historically derived from family, children, religion, community - all of which have been eroded in the last 20 years) so now they latch on to anything they can find

climate change, racism, abortion rights, Covid, etc. with all these topics it's easy to create a "if you're not for these things you're racist/sexist/facist, etc ". It's really sad to see. Turn the tv and computer off, go outside, and find out that life is good

Nov 27, 2021 - 11:36pm

I work for a company that works in medical research for stuff like this.  We barely have any new information really on this Omnicron mutation.  Generally speaking, the evidence that has said is that mutations are in 2, but this has 10.  It'd be catastrophic if this were true (still looking into it).

I'd wait for more hard data and information as they further investigate it, honestly.  It is still too early to tell.

Nov 27, 2021 - 11:36pm

Anyone with a prefrontal cortex is done with this shit. Denver just mandated mask wearing for all indoor buildings overnight regardless if you're vaccinated or not. Now they're forcing businesses to enforce mask wearing for their employees if they aren't 95% "fully vaccinated". Only half of people I've seen in stores are complying. The sheep who can't think for themselves will mask up for the rest of their lives. If they want to make these cyclical mask wearing mandates permanent I'm just going to move to a red state.
