One last consideration before making a life changing commitment.

Need some input guys/gals. Going into junior year at a non target school w/ one internship in marketing, and one in a mm Investment Bank outside of the United states. Have a 3.8 GPA and been really committing towards Investment Banking. Really looking to get into a BB firm for next summer.

Through speaking to family and friends, been told to not feel too rushed to jump into IB & keep my options open.

Been considering Management Consulting lately and like the idea of traveling alot for work. Seems like a good alternative/back up to IB that would still help me develop substantive analytical skills more broadly.

I have a great interest in both industries (IB & Consulting) and would love to hear any input before I make a concrete decision and focus strictly on IB recruiting.

Is it too late to start looking into a career in Management Consulting? What would be my chances at landing a place into a MBB Consulting Firm? When does Consulting recruiting go on?

Am confident that I could find something nice in IB that I would like if I continue down this path, but definitely worth taking time to take any last considerations before really committing to such a serious/demanding profession.

Recruit hard for IB the first semester of your junior year, do some prep for consulting in the second. Complete your summer internship and see if IB is for you. If you can handle it, go back full time. If not, you have a great internship to leverage for consulting recruiting. That's a pretty common strategy for people toeing the line between the two paths.
