People in consulting , what was your gpa ?
I’m starting to give up the idea of getting into consulting because I’ll probably finish up with a 3.6 gpa and even thought im a sophomore and can improve it , realistically classes tend to get much harder and what I’ve heard this gpa is not good enough to get into consulting .
I wanted to know what was your gpa in undergrad ? Thanks
Year 1: 1.67
Year 2: 2.5
Year 3: 3.2
Year 4: 3.5
I turned out ok...
Yup, year 1 - 2.0
Year 2 - 3.0
Year 3 - 3.5
You’ll be okay. No dude a 3.6 is fine lol give yourself a break man. That’s an A- average
Incoming MBBer, GPA was 3.9 at time of application. Was a business student though, they tend to give more leeway to STEM kids if you fall under that field
My current GPA in my MA is around a 3.5. You’re fine with a 3.6.
What's your major and is your school a target?
3.6 isn't enough to disqualify you, but it is not good for MBB/T2 firms. First pass resume screens are about about finding ways to cut down a very large applicant pool, so a 3.6 GPA will usually be an easy way to do that if there are tons of other applicants from your school with a 3.8/3.9, unless the rest of your profile is comparatively much better vs your peer group
It's not nearly bad enough to where I'd feel like giving up though, especially if you're not just targeting MBB/T2
I got an interview at an MBB with a 3.75.
Had a 3.7 but was a double STEM degree at an Ivy with a 4.0 major GPA in one STEM and 3.7 major GPA in other STEM. Unfortunately, most people at my MBB had a 3.8+ cumulative afaik and I was near the lowest of the bunch.
Canada, so scale may not be 100% the same...
Year 1... 3.7
Year 2... 3.5
Year 3... 3.3
Year 4... 3.5
The MBBs 100% have a brutal GPA screen - had an MBB Associate tell me himself that the first thing they do is liike for anyone 3.8 and higher, and then start there. Exception of course is if you prove yourself in competition and catch recruiter eyes directly or get referred past the automatic screening filters. At a 3.6, you'll be fine to place T2, and with effort (and a bit of luck), MBB.
Whet about big 4?
I kinda group T2 and Big 4 together, so both of them.
will be starting at a big 4 with under a 3.8.
I got an interview at an MBB with a 3.75.
Yup, I also know a handful of people with 3.3s (from STEM) that got interviews at MBB as well and 3.6s from business. They networked, won competitions, founded small companies, or stood out in other ways. A GPA is one measure, but definitely not the only one. For those who haven't networked or haven't differentiated themselves in other ways may be filtered out in the first round of screening since MBBs typically look for high GPAs (the measure I was told in an Info Session and in coffee chat was 3.8).
Incoming MBB from non-target, ~3.7
Incoming MBB, 3.91 in a double major + minor
3.6 is a great GPA. Nothing is impossible with good interview skills and networking.
I landed an interview with MBB from a nontarget with a 3.65. Network hard and differentiate yourself and anything is possible.
At an RX consulting shop and had a final cumulative GPA of 3.3 from a target.
About 3.5 STEM and didn't get interviews in undergrad. Hired in after a few years though
3.6 from non-target
