Percent right on GMAT?
I know that due to the algorithm this isn't really an easy question to answer.... but what level of percent were you getting right on everything before you starting to get scores into the 700s? I'm using 3 sources... Manhattan, Magoosh, and The OG Guides. On the OG Guide and Magoosh I'm getting problems 70-85% right depending on the subject. For example: I just did about 15 Algebra problems, most were hard and a few were medium. I got 78% correct. I tried doing the actual Manhattan practice problems for RC and Algebra today.... and those were literally the hardest problems I've ever seen. I'm not sure which one I should be practicing and focusing on more to prepare for the real test.
I do think that Manhattan is generally harder, speaking from my personal experience.
Took an Official GMAT practice test and scored 700 with no prep, then after studying the first couple of Manhattan strategy guides I scored a 650 on a MGMAT CAT.
god damn... 700 with no prep.... that would be amazing...
Yeah, but I've generally scored a lot lower on MGMAT practice exams. For example, I scored a 760 on an official practice exam just now, but less than a week ago I scored 650 on a MGMAT practice exam. Although I have read that the range of your scores is surprisingly large for a given skill level, this still seems a bit absurd to me.
Edit: Found the answer
when do you take the real deal?
I think I was missing around 6-10 to get around 48-49 on Q and maybe 4-8 to get >40 on V. Came out to an overall >700. It definitely matters what level of questions you’re getting wrong though.
that's crazy you got a 48-49 on Q with 6-10 wrong but only got 4-8 wrong to get 40 V.... isn't V the area people score lower on?
the Manhattan guide is made to help people score high (ie. 700+) so it focuses harder problems (and also why it's the best GMAT study guide). I wouldn't worry too much about scoring until you are well advanced in your study, it's a test that require a learning curve (mostly because normal people have forgotten high school math).
